Dr. Puglia brings 3 decades of engineering and scientific innovation to new product development, and is a partner of Acutiy Partners, LLC. Previously, Dr. Puglia served as Director of Technology for the Intelligent Integrated Systems Group within the Technology Solutions Group at QinetiQ North America, where he was responsible for developing and commercializing key advanced material products. For example, he developed the proprietary smart decontaminating material for use in chemical and biological defense applications, SD-TEX®.

Dr. Puglia also directed a manufacturing operation and research group for Millipore Corporation, where he was responsible for commercializing new technologies from development through manufacturing. While there, he patented novel technologies that are currently used in the biotechnology industry to purify monoclonal antibodies. He also directed the construction and validation of a $35 million membrane plant, which was voted as a finalist for the International Plant of the Year award in 2004 by the Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.

Dr. Puglia spent eight years directing research in membrane development for Koch Industries, a leading supplier in Reverse Osmosis membrane technology. During his tenure there, he invented a process for manufacturing Reverse Osmosis membranes that has been licensed to many manufacturers in the filtration area.

Dr. Puglia received his Ph.D. and Doctorate in Polymer Chemistry and Plastic Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He is a frequent presenter at the Gordon Research Conferences on Polymers and Membrane Materials, and is a member of the Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers, Society of Plastic Engineers, The American Chemical Society, North American Membrane Society, and Materials Research Society. His primary areas of interest include developing and commercializing polymeric materials for industrial and consumer applications.
